The Stock Up Price is the lowest price the product will be during a typical 12-week sales cycle. If you have been couponing for a while at Publix you may have noticed that sales repeat themselves every few months.
I tell my husband all the time, I may not be able to get Mueller’s Pasta on sale this week at Publix, but there is usually a stock up priced deal at least every month on pasta.
So how do you know if its a stock-up the price? Well, it depends on a few factors. Are you brand loyal to that product? Which means your family will only eat this brand. My family only eats Prego sauces. I can get spaghetti sauce on sale BOGO at Publix about 3 times a month, but not Prego, it’s usually only BOGO about 4 times a year. So coupon or no coupon, when it is BOGO I’m stocking up and buying enough to last me 4 months.
If you’re not brand loyal to the item below is a guide you can go by, which are my stock up prices.
How many do I buy?
If the sale price with coupons is lower than the price listed below its time to stock up!
If the items are free or super cheap, grab enough to last you 6 months or so.
If your family eats spaghetti for dinner at least once a week, and Pasta is at a stock-up price. You want to buy one box of pasta for every week for 6 weeks to get you to that next great stock up price sale and not have to pay full price for the item every again.
There are usually 4 weeks in a month so you need 12 boxes of pasta at least. Look, Pasta doesn’t go bad, so grab a few more for good measure if it’s a great deal, and if it’s super cheap or free grab enough to last 12 weeks.
When beginning a stockpile, I personally put a set amount of my grocery budget aside each week for just stockpiling, not a lot, I dedicated $10 in the beginning.
I picked the GREAT deals and bought enough each week to last me several weeks but never went out of my $10 budget for stockpiling.
If you have enough toothpaste to last you and your family 12 weeks, don’t dedicate money from your budget this week for that super great toothpaste deal when you could be stocking up on taco shells which may not be the best deal out there this week, but are a great price.
Once you begin to build a stockpile of staple items your family uses each month you can take some of that money you typically would use to buy pasta or toothpaste and put it into your stockpile budget.
Maybe month two raise your stockpile budget to $15 a week, and so on. The first stockpile items you want to buy are the staples, the things you and your family use every single week.
If your child eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every week in his lunch start looking for peanut butter and jelly deals.
