Half BOGO areas each item rings up half price, and you are not required to purchase two to get the BOGO deal. It seldom makes a difference in your trip except for a few instances
USING A BOGO COUPON IN A HALF BOGO AREA
If you live in a true BOGO area, when there is a BOGO sale and a BOGO coupon both items will be free.
For example, in True BOGO areas:
Airwick is BOGO at $3.99
and there is a BOGO Airwick coupon.
The register rings up two, one at $3.99 AND one at $0.00
When the cashier deducts the coupon she deducts $3.99 (the price of the item)
This makes both items free.
When you live in a Half BOGO area items ring up both half price
using the same BOGO Airwick sale and coupon
Each Airwick will ring up for $1.99 ea.
When you present your coupon the cashier deducts $1.99 (the price of the item)
leaving you with a balance of $1.99 for two.
So it is important to know which area you are in, you can find this out by
A. looking at a past Publix receipt and seeing how your BOGO items are scanning if one rings up $0.00 and the other full price you are in TRUE BOGO.
B. Call your store and ask how items ring up.
Most areas are half BOGO areas, primarily Florida is the only True BOGO area, there are a few exceptions.
WHEN THEY COUPON IS LIMIT ONE PER HOUSEHOLD PER DAY FOR A BOGO SALE
The good news if you are in a Half BOGO area a lot of coupons are being limited to one per household per day.
You can take advantage of a lower out of pocket than someone in a TRUE BOGO area because you are not required to purchase two of the item to get the BOGO price.
For example, Airwick is on sale for $3.99 BOGO
and there is a $2/1 Publix coupon in the Purple Flyer, but the limit is one per household per day.
True BOGO areas have to purchase two to get the BOGO price but can only use one coupon.

Use (1) $2/1 Purple Flyer Coupon
Pay: $1.99
Where is a Half BOGO area you only have to purchase one.
Buy (1) Airwick @ $2.00 (HALF PRICE)
