Welcome! My name is Amy! I have been a Publix couponer for 13 years. My family fell on hard times when my husband had a medical issue and I had to quickly find a way to feed my family of 4 on a budget. (something I had NEVER done). Publix has always been my go to store and we know it’s expensive but not if you know how to work the deals and coupons! I was very overwhelmed and frustrated at first, so once I mastered couponing at Publix I wanted to help others easily master couponing too!

I have written Publix deals for other coupon blogs over the years but decided to start this blog for Publix couponing 6 years ago. Each week I share the top Publix deals with you in a post I call ” The Best Deals of the Week” It is always pinned at the top of my website’s front page, if you click on the picture and open it I break down the weekly Publix coupon deals by giving you a step by step guide on how to do each one (what the sale is, where the coupons is, how many to buy etc…)

I recommend you start couponing by picking one of these deals and doing it separately from your other shopping just to get your feet wet. You can find this week’s deals here

Where Do I Find Coupons?

There are two types of coupons, store coupons and manufacturer coupons. Manufacturer coupons can be found in many places:

Coupon Inserts:

Coupons can be found in many places, most common is in the Sunday newspaper. Inside your Sunday newspaper, you will find inserts that come out each week with different coupons. These coupon inserts names are Save, Smart Source and P&G inserts. In your Sunday paper each week you may find only one or all of these coupon inserts, it does vary and each insert contains new coupons which are usually good for the next few weeks. Some areas also send the Save insert in the mail on Wednesday.

Digital Coupons:

The Publix app offers digital coupons which usually are the same coupons from the Sunday newspaper. The downside is you can use most digital coupons only one time, but you can sign up for multiple Publix accounts which allow you more coupons! Each member in your family who has a phone number can register for a Publix digital account. They even give you a $5 off coupon at sign-up! Make sure to also register your birthday with them because you get special freebies (like flowers and cake)  Register for Publix Perks here

You may only use one account per Publix transaction though, we will go over digital coupons in detail below.

Printable coupons:

You can also find manufacturer coupons on popular coupon websites like Coupons.com and manufacturer websites when you sign up for newsletters.

Hang tags, peelies and blinkies:

Lastly, keep your eyes peeled in the stores lots of manufacturers put coupons right on their products!

Store coupons:

Publix beginner couponing Extra Savings Flyer store coupons

Store coupons can be found in store at the Information Center located near the front door.  Publix offers a coupon book, The Extra Savings Flyer, packed with additional store sales and coupons which change every two weeks. In addition to the Extra Savings Flyer they also offer occasional seasonal coupon books. Each time you visit the store stop at the Information Center (pictured to the left) and pick up your new coupon books.

How to use Publix digital coupons:

Digital coupons are manufacturer coupons, not store coupons. This is important to remember when I go over stacking coupons later.

I am going to go over in detail how to use and clip digital coupons because they are available to everyone and easiest for beginners to start with, in the video above or to the left called clipping Publix digital coupons

Each week, the Publix ad begins on Wednesday in some areas, and Thursday in others. Check your store ad here to see which day your ad begins by looking at the current ad’s start date.

Publix True BOGO or Half BOGO Beginners guide to couponing

There will come a time when you will need to know when reading a breakdown, if you are HALF BOGO or TRUE BOGO. The simplest way to explain this is if you live in Florida you are TRUE BOGO and the rest of the “lands” are HALF BOGO. Half BOGO and True BOGO are just the way the Publix system calculates items, it is different in areas other than Florida.

Another integral part of couponing are rebate apps. These are offers you receive after you leave the store by uploading your receipt. I highly recommend joining  the apps in the links below:

Publix Coupon Policy

A coupon policy is the store’s rules regarding using coupons in their store. Much like this Beginner’s Guide to Publix Couponing, it teaches you the rules of couponing in Publix. Each company’s policy differs. It is important to know the store’s coupon policy to avoid surprises at the register and to eliminate frustration. Before you start couponing at Publix, take a minute to read the coupon policy in the link below.

Click here to read Publix’s coupon policy.

As you read in their policy, Publix limits you to use 8 like coupons per transaction. Don’t get that confused, it means you may use 8 coupons that are alike, not 8 total in your transaction. The only time you may not use 8 like coupons at Publix is if the coupon states a limit in the coupon terms. For example ” 4 like coupons per transaction” supersedes the store policy of 8 like coupons and you may only use 4 like coupons. Read more about coupon terms below.

Another key point in the policy is Manufacturer’s digital offers cannot be combined with manufacturer’s paper coupons on the purchase of the same item.” This means you can not stack another coupon with a digital coupon in the same item.

Lastly, “ buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate purchase.” This means we can use coupons even on the “free” item when it is on sale BOGO.

If you have not, join our Facebook group click here – we have a very helpful group that is always willing to answer new member questions. Also be sure to follow my Facebook page as well click here and like and follow. so you see deal first.

Once you have joined the apps above, and started your Publix digital account, check out the Best Deals this week pick one, and get started! Remember you can always find the deals pinned at the top of MyCouponingBuddy.com – screenshot one on your phone and head to Publix! You got this!

After you have one or two deals under your belt, we can move on to other aspects of couponing like stacking coupons and more savings strategies when you are settled in!

Publix Old System vs New system Publix new register system deducts digital coupon different picture of old receipt vs new receipt how to tell which system you are on

New System VS. Old System

Dated 4/29/25

The only time the Old System or New system knowledge matters is when using a digital threshold coupon. For example $10 off When you spend $40.

Publix is updating its register systems. There are making changes to thier systems and right now some areas are on the new system and some are on the old system.

If your store has the “New system” or “Old system” we are still posting breakdowns in the Best Deals of the Weekly Sale  HERE

We post breakdown examples for you for each system which can be overwhelming looking at it, I’m working on a solution hopefully to organize it.

So what is different? The only difference I have found involves digital threshold coupons, everything else is the same. SO if you are not using a coupon that is for example $10 when you spend $30 you dont need to worry about if you are at an old system register or new system register.

Please visit some examples HERE
