Have you seen the pictures of couponers stacked with tons of products they got for close to nothing? And asked HOW?%$#? And they may have added you to our Facebook group and there you see pictures of things for great deals but are clueless about how to obtain them. You’re in the right spot, I’m gonna walk you through becoming a Publix Couponer!
My name is Amy Barker, each week I share Publix deals on my website, My Couponing Buddy, explaining how to coupon at Publix. I wanted to do a Weekly Series of step-by-step guides you could follow along with and grow as a Publix Couponer.
There are many types of couponers, some just coupon occasionally, some are extreme and stockpile, and some buy their regular purchases and use coupons, some just shop for BOGO deals and use coupons. None of these are wrong, coupon how you feel comfortable! Saving money is the end goal or all of us!
The “extreme couponers” you see, who bought 56 toothbrushes, are stockpile couponers. They purchase things in high volume when prices are low or free, to last them. When you buy a product at a low price (or free) you then get to take that $3 you would use to buy that toothbrush and put it towards something else in your budget. Do this enough times and you have a stockpile, you only need to refresh when a great deal comes along again, and maybe buy meats and veggies each week.
But this type of couponing is not for everyone and can be done at a smaller scale and still save you tons of money each month. Most of Publix’s sales recycle about every 6 to 8 weeks, so you don’t always need to buy 124 items when they are a good deal. You can just buy as much as you need to last you a few months. If you miss a deal, don’t worry it will come around again!
Couponing has many components, so I thought breaking down the basics over a few weeks would gradually ease you into it. I will also be doing some videos, for visual learners, to go with this series I will link at the bottom of each week.
My website cuts down a considerable amount of time you would spend searching for deals and matching coupons, however, time and energy are still required to coupon for every type of couponer.

There are two types of coupons Manufacturer Coupons and store coupons. Manufacturer coupons are released by companies and when the store redeems them the company pays the store back for the amount deducted. Store coupons are created by the store and the store usually is not reimbursed for them.
Manufacturer coupons can be found in three places, the first place is in coupon inserts, which usually come in your Sunday Newspaper, some areas may get them free in the mail on Wednesdays.
Most Sunday Newspapers offer weekly coupon inserts, these newspapers can be picked up at Dollar Tree, Publix, and most gas stations, or delivered to your home with a weekly delivery subscription. Below is a picture of a coupon insert called Save.
Another way to access these insert coupons is by buying them from a coupon fairy. Many websites offer whole coupon inserts or you can also buy just the coupon you need, we call these clipped coupons. Below is a list of reputable providers:
Clipped coupons
CouponStockpile.Com is a website that hosts several coupon clippers. It’s great because you can pick from the one closest to you if you are in a rush to get your coupons, and there are lots of options.
Diane Stevenson is a coupon fairy who has been providing coupons for many years clipped here is her Facebook page
Klip2Save.com has been around for years offering clipped coupons!
So if you see a breakdown of an upcoming deal you want to do and you do not have the coupon insert you can contact one of these resources for help.
Whole inserts:
I would search for a local coupon group on Facebook first before mailing whole inserts each week because it can be VERY costly.
The Coupon Marketplace offers whole and clipped inserts
Printable Coupons:
Printable coupons from companies’ websites and newsletters and sites like Coupons.com are also a great way to get manufacturer coupons. Most printable coupons allow you to print two times by pressing the back button after your first print.
Most sites have some kind of software you must install or verify your phone number or accept cookies, etc before printing so be prepared. Do a test print first by printing another coupon you don’t need on the site or saving the coupon to a pdf file instead of printing it because 0nce you hit print that counts as a print whether the coupon prints or not, so be careful.
Do print the coupon twice Most sites will allow you to print a coupon two times per account. Each coupon printing site is different, but if you have another device in your home, you can also print from, you can usually print two more coupons from each device. (not printer, you only need one WIFI printer to print from multiple devices)
Coupons.com tracks prints by your phone number and device. When you register with coupons.com they ask you to verify your phone number. If you provide different phone numbers (i.e. husband’s kids) you can print two more coupons per device registered. My laptop is registered to my phone number, My husband’s laptop to his phone number, My phone is registered under my Dad’s phone number, My son’s laptop is under his phone number and so on, so I can multiple prints of the same coupon.
Do not ever copy a coupon
You may be thinking why do you go through all this trouble to print several coupons when you can just copy them, or change the copy code? Copying a coupon is illegal, the coupon printing website tracks the coupons you use, and if you copy a coupon, you can be prosecuted legally and your coupon privileges revoked.
Each printable coupon has a number unique to you, and the company can track where it was printed from and who used it.
Publix Digital Coupons / App
The easiest way to get Manufacturer coupons is the Publix app/ website. If you have not joined CLICK HERE
You receive a $5 coupon when you sign up! Register an account for each family member, who has a phone number, Publix digital coupons are one time use, so a second account comes in handy.
Once you have signed up for the account make sure to add your birthday in the settings Publix offers a birthday treat for you each year through your digital account. They distribute Perks like FREE new product coupons, $2 off when you spend $10, or a free flower bouquet on your Perks Anniversary.
Publix randomly releases digital coupons but big days are usually Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. I recommend you check the app daily and CLIP ALL your digital coupons. Each digital coupon is only released to a certain number of clips once the coupon has been clipped by say 19.000 people Publix pulls the coupon from the app. If you clipped the coupon it’s in your app until it expires. Often a great deal will come AFTER the coupon is no longer available to clip so we recommend you clip ALL digital coupons and clip them often!
Publix Extra Savings Flyer
Every two weeks Publix puts out an Extra Savings Coupon Book packed with Publix store coupons and sales.
The Extra Savings Flyer can be found in most stores at the Information Center usually found near the front door of the store. If you do not see an Information Center at your store, ask Customer Service where the flyers can be found.
A few times a year Publix will put out additional coupon books for Holidays or Seasons. These are usually printable and found in stores.
You may also sometimes find Publix Coupons on end caps, every so often there is a tearpad on displays, so keep your eyes peeled.
Competitor coupons:
Publix also accepts other store coupons if they consider that store a competitor. Each Publix varies as to which store ” competition” coupons they accept. You can look for the sign, like the one above, in your store to see whose coupons your store accepts or ask at the Customer Service counter. Beware, just because there is a Target right next door to your Publix does not mean they accept Target as a competitor. The competitor ” zones” were set out by corporate many years ago and that store may not have been there when the lines were drawn.
Also just because Publix accepts the store as a competitor doesn’t necessarily mean that store offers coupons for you to use. My store has Aldi as a competitor and I’ve never seen an Aldi coupon.
1. Sign up for a Publix Digital account
2. Print a coupon from coupons.com that you don’t want to use and get the software settled/sign up
3. Find your store’s Extra Savings Flyer kiosk and competitors
